Attorney John G. Vanacore
Founder & Principal Attorney
John G. Vanacore has been practicing law in New Hampshire for over 40 years.
Attorney Vanacore graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1983. He is admitted to practice in the State of New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, and the United States Court of Appeals First Circuit. He has represented clients in both civil and criminal trials before the New Hampshire Superior Courts and the U.S. District Court. Attorney Vanacore has argued cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Attorney Vanacore graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York in 1974 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering. He sailed on U.S. merchant ships from 1974 through 1978 visiting dozens of ports including some in the Far East, Southeast Asia, India, South Africa, East Africa, Madagascar, the African, Asian, and European Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the British Isles, and the inter-coastal United States. As a Merchant Marine Engineer, he contemporaneously served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1970 through 1983 when he was honorably discharged as a lieutenant.
Believing from his observations of his shipmates that maintaining a healthy family life as a merchant mariner would be difficult, John found shoreside work at a prototype waste-to-energy plant on Long Island, NY which burned household trash and produced electricity. While there, he learned that his employer was not only engaged in illegal and unethical practices, but also was breaching its agreement with its 100 employees recruited specifically to assist in getting this socially conscious project into operations. Because of the multiple breaches of the company’s promises, and more so because unsafe conditions at the plant were truly endangering him and his co-employees, John organized his co-workers, forming a union—the Brotherhood of Recycling Employees—and as their president, battled with their employer at the National Labor Relations Board in Brooklyn, NY on Unfair Labor Practice charges to a successful conclusion in 1979.
Attorney Vanacore moved to NH in 1980 to attend Franklin Pierce Law Center (University of New Hampshire Law) and has been practicing law ever since, originally doing criminal and mental health law and, after forming the law firm of Leahy, Vanacore, Nielson and Trombly, practicing mostly civil litigation: accident cases involving motor vehicles, slip and falls, workplace injuries including workers’ compensation claims, sexual assaults, and various other cases which he perceives to warrant justice.
Attorney Vanacore played for many years on the Vanacore Law Office–sponsored basketball team as part of the Concord Men’s Basketball League and has coached and sponsored youth athletics for his own children, other children, and underprivileged youth. He also skis, hikes, and runs the beautiful hills, mountains, and trails of New England.
